Generous benefactors donated four beautiful homes to Olive Crest to serve vulnerable children and families in crisis. The families who live in these homes help stop the cycle of abuse and transform families in the Coachella Valley.

The Children
Displaced and vulnerable children from the Coachella Valley area are placed with the Burns family throughout the year. Olive Crest and the Burns family work with local agencies and the biological families to determine each child’s needs. Children may be placed in the home for weeks or years, depending on their situations.

The John and Sam have been chosen for this amazing opportunity because they are a Christ-centered, experienced married couple with a proven track-record for loving and serving children and families in need. They serve on the front lines to make a difference in the lives of children and families.
Meet the Burns
John and Samantha Burns have spent the last 18 years building a life centered on faith, family, and serving others. As parents and grandparents, they’ve always believed in creating a home filled with love, joy, and belonging.
In April 2024, they moved to the Coachella Valley with a deep calling—to be part of something bigger. Their journey led them to a partnership with Olive Crest, where they opened their hearts and home to vulnerable children in crisis. Since June, they’ve welcomed 17 children, from infants to teenagers, offering them not just a place to stay, but a place to be loved. Whether for one night or several months, every child who enters their home becomes part of a story of hope and restoration.
For the Burns, it’s about more than providing shelter—it’s about giving kids the chance to experience life as it was meant to be. From beach trips to mountain hikes, every moment is an opportunity to bring joy and healing. Their passion is to create a loving, stable home where children can find peace, safety, and a future filled with possibility.

Meet Olive Crest
For over 47 years, Olive Crest has been transforming the lives of at-risk children and families. They serve as the hands and feet of Jesus here in the Coachella Valley by providing the homes and funding the utilities and capital needs for Family Circle, and training mission are families to live in the homes.
